Human Leukocyte Antigens (HLA) is a Group of genes coding for a set of host surface molecules that bind to peptide fragments derived from any foreign antigens and display them on the host immune cell surface for recognition by other immune-fighters called T cells. A next-generation sequencing-based test helps find the best match for donor selection in allogenic organ and tissue transplants so that HLA antigens of the donor are not identified as invaders by the recipient, critically affecting the outcome of transplantation.

Anti-HLA donor-specific antibodies (DSA) are a proven risk factor for the development of humoral rejection and transplant loss. Monitoring the presence of DSA in the organ recipient serum with the determination of their characteristics may improve the stratification of the risk of immunological loss of the allograft.DSA monitoring allows for early intervention such as biopsy or modification of immunosuppressive therapy at an early stage of rejection.
