MSCTR researchers had the privilege to interact with Dr. Rafi Ahmed on 8 Nov’ 16 in MSCTR Dr. Rafi Ahmed, a member of the National Academy of Science, is a world-renowned immunologist whose work during the past decade has been highly influential in shaping our current understanding of memory T cell differentiation and anti-viral T and B cell immunity.

Brain Storm Day

Neuro-Oncology Research Meet was organized on 23rd October, 2016 to bring together an expert group of clinicians and researchers from across centers in India to discuss unmet clinical needs and translatable ideas for CNS tumors. This day-long brain storm discussion included individual commentaries on clinical and research views and open discussion session basically to “Brainstorm” priority research targets and approaches for translation.

Cancer awareness talk by Dr. Bhawna Sirohi, expert oncologist

MSMF organized a cancer awareness talk for the residents of Lakeshore Homes, Kasavanahalli, as part of the Independence day celebration on 15 August 2015. The program included an informative session from an expert oncologist, Dr. Bhawna Sirohi, as well as the experience of a cancer survivor. The residents were able to utilize this opportunity in order clarify many of the doubts general public has on cancer and thus making the program a success.

WORLD CANCER DAY

February 4 is World Cancer Day. A day year marked to spread the awareness of cancer, to make people sensitive to people with cancer and to contribute all they can towards addressing this disease. The theme for World Cancer Day 2015, is ‘Not Beyond Us’, which holds a positive and proactive approach to the battle against cancer, highlighting that the solutions do exist across the continuum of cancer and they are within our reach.

The MSMF organized a Blood Donation Camp, at NH health city on 4th February. The gift of blood is the gift of life. There is no substitute for human blood. We thank everyone who took part in this noble event, making it a success.

Breast Cancer Awareness

Awareness on Breast cancer is important to reduce the stigma on Breast cancer, through education on symptoms and treatment. Every women should learn to perform self-examination so that the cancer can be detected at the early stage itself. Breast cancer is still a taboo subject to many women in our country. Awareness programs on it, will provide an opportunity for both men and women to clarify any misconception on the subject and be more open address such issues. When Breast cancer is detected early, in the localized stage, the 5 year survival rate is 98%.
